The heavy rain is not abating just yet, although there was a little bit of a respite this evening. My friend Daya is okay though. He waded out to the middle of the road in waist-high water, but there were snakes in the water, which freaked him out, as he is petrified of them, so he retreated back to his lodgings. Fortunately, a boat came to his rescue, and he was shipped off to safety, and most importantly food, but with none of his belongings at all!

I  kept in contact with Daya throughout the day, and he is in pretty good spirits really, as he has been through such a lot in his life, and is fairly resilient. He is hopeful that his landlord will be able to get some of his clothes to him, and we are all hopeful that the rain will stop soon and the flood waters will abate. The poorest people in Sri Lanka are nothing if not resilient, as they have had to deal with some incredibly lean years since the COVID-19 pandemic hit them.

It was our penultimate day in school, and my main task today was another meeting with Ravi, the Managing Director of the school, who is such a pleasure to work with. We were looking at strategic planning again, which is something that I have had a lot of experience with over the years, so I was well within my comfort zone. I hope that I was able to pass on a few useful ideas to Ravi, as he sure has a huge job on his hands running the Royal International School.

It has been such a privilege for us offering just a little bit of support to the school, and we have both loved it, as it is quite an amazing place. Ravi has already done a fabulous job in developing the school over the past few years, but there is still a mountain to climb. Fortunately, Ravi likes mountain climbing, so the school is in safe hands, and we love it so much now, that we will both continue to do our very best to give all the support that we can to the lovely team of people here.

Unfortunately, there has still been little to take photos of today (but I will take some on our last day in school tomorrow). I have succumbed this evening to simply picking out a few of my favourite photos from over the past couple of months, some of which you may have already seen, and others not.
