It was my last full day here in Colombo, and I was on a mission this morning to find beach towels. That may sound a bit bizarre, but when I asked my granddaughter, Isabella, what she would like me to bring back from Sri Lanka this time, she asked me for a nice beach towel, and I hadn't found any up until now. I googled beach towels in Colombo and found towels.lk, which is a shop in the busy wholesale area of Pettah in Colombo, so that was where I headed.

To say that Pettah is a busy trading area would be the understatement of the year, as I have never been anywhere so crowded in all my years in Sri Lanka, and it took me some time to find the towel shop, but I got there in the end. I am disappointed that I failed to take photographs of the Pettah experience, but I was rather relieved to escape in the end, as it was all a bit too much for me, although the sights, the sound, the smells etc. were absolutely incredible.

I made my way to meet my good friend Aruni and her son, Yash, for lunch at Aachary's Kitchen. Her husband, Babu, joined us during his lunch break, and we enjoyed a delicious lunch there. It was so great to see Aruni, but such a short catch-up really, and we promised to meet up for dinner next time, so that we can spend a bit longer together. After the lunch I made my way back to the Colombo Swimming Club via tuk-tuk, dropping Aruni and Yash off on the way.

I reached the point of my final evening of this wonderful trip to Sri Lanka, and Ragu joined me for it, having a lovely dinner together on the lawn at the Colombo Swimming Club, which is a beautiful, atmospheric place to be in the evening. I always have great conversations with Ragu, and we chatted about all sorts of things, but a big topic this evening was our concerns for the world at the moment, and the impact that current events may have on Sri Lanka.

Today's photos are from my lunch with Aruni, but I forgot to take one whilst Babu was there, so Aruni sent me one of them as a family to include in today's blog, so Babu wasn't missed out. The remaining photographs are of my lovely final evening with Ragu.

  1. Hope you succeeded in your towel mission? As for fulfilling the purpose of your seventh trip to Sri Lanka, there would seem to be no doubt at all. Well done, Keith, and see you soon, I hope.
