It was a bit of a crazy day today, as I did a full day at Tea Leaf Centre Bogawantalawa, before returning to Daya's to pack up all my stuff and move into Chef King for the remaining 6 nights of my time here, so that my room at Daya's can be used for the hordes of relations descending upon him in the next couple of days prior to his wedding. Although it was a bit manic, I absolutely loved it, as for various reasons I have always had a soft spot for Tea Leaf Centre Bogawantalawa.

I started the day with my little group of Trainee Teachers here, which grew overnight from 4 to 5, as they had quickly replaced the person who had got another job. We looked at how to use a whiteboard in your teaching, which we revisited in the afternoon when they role-played a teaching situation where they taught back what they had learned in the morning session. They have been a lovely group of Trainee Teachers to work with alongside Miss Manoharan, their Teacher Trainer.

After the morning break, I went upstairs to have time with Kavi, so that we could chat about the 6-month English Programme that is sponsored by Bathavon Rotary Club and others. It was a very useful catch-up with her, and I will visit her old school in Bogawantalawa tomorrow with her, then possibly meet face-to-face with any government teachers who can pop in after school, before meeting others through an online meeting a bit later on.

Stefhan from the Media Team was at Tea Leaf Centre Bogawantalawa today, so he gave me a lift back to Daya's on his way home to Norwood, then helped me move all my stuff from Daya's home to Chef King, which was extremely kind of him. He had the Cookstove Project tuk-tuk which is definitely one of my favourites, as not only is it green, but it very modern and has little side doors that you don't generally see on other tuk-tuks!

Today's photographs show the lovely views from Tea Leaf Centre Bogawantalawa, the training sessions with the Trainee Teachers, and one with Mr. Selvanayagam, one of the teachers, sitting in the tuk-tuk.

  1. Hello Sir,
It was a wonderful day with you, the trainees, and two staff members. We had a very useful session on how to use the whiteboard effectively.

I look forward to working with you again tomorrow for the next session.

    Thank you,
    Ms. Manoharan

  2. Good to see some of TLV Bogawantalawa, and a glimpse of the landscape nearby.
