Having been retired for 10 years now, it's not often that I experience a full week of work, where I have got up at 06:30 each morning from Monday to Friday in order to be at Tea Leaf Centre Maskeliya's early morning staff meeting at 08:30. Having done that his week, I really felt I had earned my chance to sleep in a bit this morning, and to then have a very lazy morning at Daya's home just having a good breakfast and chilling out with him and his family.

It wasn't until mid-afternoon that we took a trip out to visit Daya's youngest cousin/sister Chinu and her lovely daughter Deepthisha, who live very near to dam that created the Castlereigh reservoir. Their father, Charles, was out at work. It was quite a rugged journey in the tuk-tuk once you left the main road, and an uphill climb to the rather remote spot where they live, but of course we received a very warm welcome from them, and we enjoyed a lovely couple of hours there.

As we were leaving a handsome young lad appeared from a neighbouring building carrying a couple of baby goats, whose mother was roaming around outside. He was rather shy and reluctant to have his photo taken at first, but he let us hold the baby goats, and we took a few photographs. I also took a few photographs of the stunning surroundings but, as is often the case, I'm not at all sure that they do it justice, as it looks a lot more beautiful when you experience it.

We couldn't stay too long this afternoon, as Daya had lots to do still for his wedding next Saturday, so we got a tuk-tuk back to Norwood, and he got out in town, whilst I carried on to his home. After a busy week, I really enjoyed relaxing there this evening. Dinner is usually a late affair here, but I tucked into my paratha and dahl, with a little chicken gravy on the side very happily around 20:30 this evening, before completing my blog and diary and retiring for a well-earned rest!

Today's photographs were all taken during my trip this afternoon with Daya, to his cousin/sister Chinu's home, which was a rather beautiful experience.

  1. What a wonderfully location! The photo of the boy holding the baby goats is a classic.
With only a week to go before his wedding, you must be witnessing a fascinating build-up to the big day! I am sure Daya will find you a calming influence - like the rest of us do?!
