My focus at school today was back to English (more Maths tomorrow!), and I started off by looking at the standard of the English in a cookery lesson. There were only 11 students (normally 12), as there is a three-way split for the class in this lesson, with one third doing cookery, one third karate, and one third laughter therapy (which I would love to have seen!). They spend one term on each - rotating round through the year, and it was fun to observe something a bit different today.
I had a few lessons where I looked at the standard of English across a variety of subjects. At break time, I had a sort of coaching session with Dinura Kahadawa, the Head Boy, which was very enjoyable, and I will be following that up tomorrow. I then had a session with three senior members of staff, where I fed back my findings from my English observations so far. I was supposed to give feedback from my Maths lessons, too, but we ran out of time for that.
After school was over, I went to the IT Department to get my new Asus laptop, which I had been forced to purchase, as my old Huawei laptop was having serious issues. I am going to see if it is worth repairing the old one (depending on the cost), which I will then keep as a back-up one. I was able to get a very good laptop for a lot less than I would have had to pay in the UK, and I have been told that this Asus laptop will be much more reliable than my Huawei laptop was.
I managed to fit in another swim this afternoon, and I could have done so much earlier had I known that there would be no swimming lessons in the pool this afternoon, as they were all taking part in some sort of swimming gala competition somewhere. I swam my usual 20 lengths, and it was so refreshing, as it was extremely hot again today. Apparently, yesterday got as high as 35 degrees, and today was only slightly cooler in comparison, at 33 degrees.
Today's photographs show the cookery lesson this morning, then a variety of photographs from around the pool area, including one of me, and one of Buddhika, the school consultant, who supports Ravi, the Managing Director of the school, one of the colourful little school shop in the corner of the playground area, and one showing you how the new additional school building is progressing.
