I had another fabulous day today, as Sandra took me back to Rangala House for the day. She had taken Valerie and me there for a treat on 24th November last year, so this time I knew exactly what to expect, and I was very excited to be going back there. The big difference this time was that Anthony, who owns the place, was there. He has a home in Bristol, too, where he runs a restaurant called The Kandyan on Gloucester Road, where we met him just before Christmas.
We picked up a lady called Madonna, who is from Texas in the USA, on the way. She will be helping out in the Pre-Primary Department of the Royal International School over the next couple of weeks. When we arrived at Rangala House, we were introduced to a friend of Anthony's from the UK, who was staying the night with three of his friends as part of a three-week trip to Sri Lanka. They were all great company, so we enjoyed a lovely, relaxing time together.
I couldn't resist the beautiful swimming pool, which was incredibly inviting, as you will see from today's photographs. I swam 30 lengths of it, but it is quite small, so I don't think that is anything like as far as my usual 20 lengths of the school swimming pool. My swim was followed by a wonderful buffet lunch, and it was delightful sitting down with 7 other people on that beautiful veranda with one of the most sensational views that I have seen in my six visits to Sri Lanka.
I am at a funny stage of my latest trip to Sri Lanka, which always seems to happen to me with around two weeks to go. I start to think how nice it will be to go back home again, but I also know that in two weeks' time, I will feel very sad to leave. I believe that the magic of Sri Lanka has cast its spell on me, and I cannot find the words to explain how fortunate I feel to have had such a wonderful experience in my life for the past five years, since I first came out here in September 2019.
There are only a few photographs of my day today, as I was enjoying myself so much!
What a view... Enjoy that 'funny stage' of your time in Sri Lanka, Keith. Sounds like a twilight feeling?
