I was up very early this morning, and I had breakfast at 07:30 at Razeena's next door, where I ended up chatting with her older sister, and her sister-in-law, three Muslim ladies who were very chatty, and made me feel so at home. Razeena always prepares the most delicious food for me, and I am so grateful to her for that, as it leaves me very free to get on with supporting the Royal International School as best as I can, without needing to think about food.
My key task today was to observe 5 lessons, focusing on the level of English of each class teacher, with an opportunity to then feed back to them later in the day. I was in my element doing this and I thoroughly enjoyed it. In one class, the little boy nearest to me kept uttering one word at me, and I couldn't understand what he was saying, so I got him to come up to me, and realised he was saying: 'tourist?' over and over, so I reassured him that I wasn't a tourist!
I relaxed at 'hone' this afternoon, with Ravi popping round to see me for a chat about how things had gone today, and to inform me that I was to be the chief guest of honour at Sports Day on Friday! His mum, Sandra (who I usually call 'aunty'), also visited me much later on to discuss issues at school, and to let me know the arrangements for tomorrow, when I am accompanying her on Independence Day on a visit to Colombo, to take her granddaughter Maya back home.
Today's photos show Razeena with her eldest sister, and with her sister-in-law, a few from the morning assembly on the huge school field, and a few from my lesson observations today.
