What a lovely day of rest this proved to be! I finally caught up with my sleep last night. I slept for 10 hours, and I woke up feeling so refreshed. Even better, when I woke up this morning all the stiffness and pain in my neck had gone, so I was back to my old self again! It's amazing what a difference that makes! I felt so positive today, and I managed to get so much done, not least catching up at last with this public blog, and my personal diary, which both mean a lot to me.

I spent most of today just 'catching up' with various things that I have not found time for yet, but you have to remember that this is still only my sixth day in Sri Lanka, even though it feels like I have packed so much in already. 'How does a 66-year-old learn to pace themselves'?, I ask myself. In my case, I am used to running myself into the ground, getting ill as a result, and then asking myself, 'What happened?', when the answer is so bleedingly obvious to all who know me well!

I was able to have a catch up video call with my wife, Valerie, this afternoon, which isn't always easy to fit in given the time difference between the UK and Sri Lanka. She tells me that it is very cold in the UK currently but, to be honest, it is not that hot here in Nuwara Eliya at the moment, and it is very wet. All the more reason for me to enjoy a relatively relaxing day at Sky Heaven today, which included getting ready for a 3-day trip ahead, which I am looking forward to.

I only popped out once later on this afternoon with Krishan. We popped into town to buy food for this evening, most of which we purchased at the Central Market in Nuwara Eliya, which I love because it is just so colourful. I had a lovely dinner of dhal curry, sambal, and paratha, which is very simple food, but absolutely delicious! All in all, it was a lovely day today, and I feel refreshed, and ready to go on my travels to Hatton, the Wanarajah Estate, Maskeliya, and Norwood tomorrow!

The only new photos that I have today are of the lovely Central Market this evening, but I think you will enjoy them because they are so colourful, and I know Valerie will enjoy them, as they contain lots of fruit and vegetables!
