Yad asked me to visit the new Tea Leaf Centre at Ragala today, and Isabelle came with me. Yad eased us in by not booking our tuk-tuk until 09:30, and it was lovely to find that she had booked Chooty, one of her neighbours, who regularly took me on various journeys when I stayed at Yad's. It was quite a cold, wet morning, and the journey took just over an hour, with the new team of staff standing outside for us as we arrived, which was very welcoming of them.
We had a lovely meeting with this new team of staff that is being led by a new Principal, Ms. Azmila Ajmal, who has an excellent command of English. There are 6 of them in the team here, a Principal, a Teacher Trainer, a Teacher, an Admin. Officer, a Finance Officer, and an Outreach Project Coordinator. They took it in turns to tell us about their Tea Leaf Journey, and we responded to each one of them individually, and also gave some general advice to them.
Just as I had almost finished the meeting, there was a loud crack, and the next moment I was flat on my back on the floor. I was quite shocked, and more embarrassed than hurt, as they all rallied round to make sure I was okay. I had actually hit my head and my neck was stiff and quite painful, but I just laughed it off, as I didn't want to worry the staff. After a quick cup of tea, and the obligatory photographs of the staff team, we headed back with Chooty to Nuwara Eliya.
I didn't feel great when I got back, and I went straight to bed, falling into a deep sleep for well over 2 hours. Isabelle had gone into Nuwara Eliya by the time I resurfaced, and I walked down into Nuwara Eliya town to join her, getting a few things in town on the way, including an umbrella, as it is pretty wet here at the moment. We had a simple dinner at Sri Ambaals, and I took a tuk-tuk home rather than walk, as my neck was still hurting, and I felt quite exhausted.
I have just included 4 photos today, three of the lovely staff team, and one of the now 3-legged chair that left me legless for a minute or so, but I will hopefully be feeling a lot better tomorrow!
Oh dear, what a shock to the system that crack must have been...
