The 'working' part of this 10-day break now complete, with a visit made to all 5 Tea Leaf Centres, we were looking forward to a little bit of relaxation over the next 5 days. Valerie went for an early walk with Nilanga's wife, Radha, this morning, whilst I tried to catch up with all my photographs, this blog, and my diary, which all take up a lot more time than you probably realise, but which I feel are worth the effort from the feedback that I have received so far.
We left Maskeliya this morning, as Nilanga drove us to Ella, with his lovely wife Radha accompanying us. We had to go via Nuwara Eliya as, unfortunately, I had left my black bag, with my money and our passports in, in the front of Reggie's car when he drove us from Bogawantalawa to Maskeliya yesterday. We were in a rush to get to the Tea Leaf Centre, but in unloading the car very quickly, I failed to notice that the bag was left in the front passenger seat!
Although this could have been a bit frustrating, it was only a bit of a detour, and on the plus side, it meant that we were finally able to catch up with my good friend Donald, who couldn't join us when we went out to Themperadu with Ladu and Kawya on Monday evening, but joined us for coffee and cake at The Grand Cafe at The Grand Hotel this lunchtime. I would have been so disappointed not to have been able to introduce him to Valerie on her first visit to Sri Lanka.
Having reclaimed my black bag from Reggie, and met up with Donald at last, we then drove to Ella, where we are staying for 2 nights at the delightfully named Felicity Inn. It was quite a relief to finally get there late afternoon, and we had a rest (whilst it poured with rain), before venturing out for dinner in Ella at UFO. We enjoyed a wonderful meal there, with a lovely saxophonist playing live music, then wandered round Ella for a bit, before getting some well-needed sleep!
Today's photographs are from Valerie's morning walk, our break with Donald at The Grand Cafe, and the delightful UFO restaurant in Ella.
What vibrant colours - and how good to think Valerie has now experienced The Grand Hotel - about which you've written so much in the past!
