There was no school again today, as the staff were out on a staff trip somewhere (not sure where they went), so we had breakfast a little later at 08:30, then did some washing before heading into school at 10:30 to do some planning and preparation for our Maths Staff Training session on differentiation, which is taking place after school on Monday. There are 53 staff coming we have been told - across Grades 1 to 5, so I think it will be pretty challenging for us!
Having got as far as we could with the planning and preparation, we went shopping for some Maths resources Valerie needed to purchase, plus a little trip to Halal Bakers to buy some bread for breakfast tomorrow. The street shops are an amazing concoction of buildings with all kinds of trades going on within them, and on the extremely busy Kurunegala to Kandy road, so Valerie took some photographs of the local shops, which you will see below today.
We got back to the apartment, and I got on with planning out the Maths Staff Training session that we had fleshed out at school this morning. We take our roles here very seriously, as we want to provide the best service that we can here. It is tricky in some ways, as there are so many areas that we could help the school develop, with one of the key ones being strategic development, which I am very much looking forward to getting involved with later on this month.
For the second night in a row, there was torrential rain this evening, so Razeena brought our dinner to our apartment, which was extremely kind of her, but totally unnecessary, as she is only next door, and we have umbrellas! I was just about to go to bed when we had a surprise call from Hannah, who has made an impromptu visit to see her grandma in Bury, so it was lovely to have a video chat with both of them online, even though we are thousands of miles apart!
Today's photographs are the ones I promised yesterday from our visit to the Nomadic School, plus the ones that Valerie took today of the local shops.
