I very much enjoyed today, as I was able to have a fairly relaxed morning preparing for some mental well-being training I was going to deliver to the Management Team in the afternoon. I have brought some personalised 'Discovery Journals' over with me from the UK, which will encourage them to think about their own mental health, something which can often get overlooked in the UK, never mind out here in Sri Lanka, where life is far more difficult for people.
Anushan picked me up from Blackpool not long after midday, and I went into one of the classrooms to prepare for my session, which was with 12 of the Management Team. I felt the session went very well, with very positive engagement from everyone, and there will be a follow-up session next month to see how the 'Discovery Journals' are working for the staff, and how to use the information that they generate by doing this to support their mental well-being.
Fortunately, Anushan was able to take some photographs of today's training session, and later on he also took me into Nuwara Eliya in the school tuk-tuk. I went to The Grand Hotel for a cup of tea, but then found I hadn't got any money to pay for it, as I had left my small black money bag in the tuk-tuk, which was a bit embarrassing. Anushan confirmed that when I called him, and very kindly brought it to me on his way home with his cousin, Pramila.
I stayed at The Grand Hotel for dinner in the Thai Restaurant with Stephanie and Isabelle. I showed them both round the hotel first, as it is a pretty impressive place, and we then enjoyed a lovely Thai meal together. They are both great company, and it is lovely to have people like them around to unwind with at the end of a long day. Chooty, the tuk-tuk driver who lives almost next door to me at Yad's house, then took me home, where I just needed to get to sleep, as I was so tired.
Today's photos are of what turned out to be a very successful training session.
