Tuesday 28th February 2023
This final week in Blackpool, Nuwara Eliya has been like a whirlwind, with so much to do, so many people to say goodbye to, and so little time! This is why I am finally getting round to Tuesday's blog on Friday (but I will complete all four days up to and including today before I go to sleep tonight!). I had almost forgotten what happened on Tuesday, but I eventually worked out where I was and what I was doing!
I had a little bit longer in bed this morning, which was rather nice, as I was working from home all morning. I had an online class with Donald from GROW, who was teaching a class in Bandarawela. It was supposed to be on Zoom, but after some technical hitches we ended up doing it via WhatsApp. The focus was on public speaking, and I very much enjoyed teaching the students and interacting with them.
I then had another meeting with Jesmin from the Management Team. She came to the Central Office to chat to me about the curriculum, and particularly about trying to provide increased opportunities for speaking and listening activities. Having gone through her lesson plans, I was very impressed with what she had done, and she had already identified plenty of additional activities that would support speaking and listening.
I went into Nuwara Eliya in the afternoon to do some shopping and, of course, I ended up at The Grand Hotel for my usual time of relaxation. I am making the most of these last few days here to enjoy some final times at The Grand Hotel. All the staff there know me now, and I always get such a friendly welcome from them, especially from Kamal Raj and Sajeevan. Even Suresh Abbas, the General Manager, has a chat and a cup of tea with me!
Today's photographs show Madona, who is the Principal at the Palmerston Centre, where I am going tomorrow, Anushan with the school tuk-tuk, which has not been running very smoothly, and two lovely views from Palmerston.
