I was supposed to do some staff training at Nanu Oya school yesterday, but I was too ill to go in, and I spent the day at home. I should have done the same today, and given myself more time to recover, but foolishly I went in and did the training when I barely had a voice and was coughing a lot still. I only stayed for the morning, as I felt so rough. The staff were very understanding though, as it was pretty obvious that I felt terrible.

I took a tuk-tuk from Nanu Oya school and went straight to The Grand Hotel, where I knew I could have a good lunch and just rest for the afternoon. Sajeevan was on duty, and he very kindly made me a special medicinal drink, which certainly seemed to sooth my symptoms, so I got him to make me a second one. I certainly felt quite a bit better for resting up and ended up popping into town to do a little shopping.

I only bought a couple of pillows, which might seem an odd sort of purchase, but I have not been sleeping well with the pillows I have in my room, and it cost me next to nothing to buy two new ones, so I will find out tonight if it was worth it - I have no doubt it will be. I got a tuk-tuk back to Blackpool, and I settled down for a quiet night in, determined to get to bed early and do my best to sleep this annoying illness off.

Daya was late getting back from school today, but we had a bit of a chat when he came in, and then I ate a small dinner, as I really didn't feel that hungry. I decided to get ready for bed and await the anticipated power cut, but you can tell by the fact that I have actually completed my blog today that there hasn't been one yet. It is now 20:30, so I shall complete this entry and then settle down to sleep!

Today's photos show the view down to Blackpool Junction as you walk down to the main road to get the bus, the school in Nanu Oya, the staff I did the staff training with this morning, and a few students practising for an assignment.

  1. Trust you had a better night's sleep, Keith; glad to know the staff at the Grand look after you, and impressed by how engaged all the students are with you and their assignment respectively.
