I started feeling quite ill yesterday, and it just got worse overnight. At one point I just couldn't breathe, so I had to sit up for a couple of hours until my airways cleared. Fortunately, I got an early morning message from Ladushan cancelling me today at GROW (boy was I relieved). I went straight back to sleep and did not wake up until 10:30, and stayed in bed all morning, which is very unlike me.
Meena, Yad's mother, has been wonderful - basically mothering me with continued lemon, ginger, and turmeric drinks, plus some wonderful chicken soup at lunchtime, which has certainly helped to pick me up through the day. I got up properly after lunch, and although I still feel full of cold, having rested a great deal, I have started to feel increasingly better as the day progressed.
Gobi sent me the test results from the third cohort of Sri Lankan teachers, so I was able to incorporate them into my Monitoring and Evaluation Report for the Rotary International Project. I gave it one final read through, and then I was ready to publish it! I have to say I felt a huge sense of satisfaction in being able to do that, as it was my main task out here, and hours and hours of work has gone into it.
Needless to say, there are no new photographs for today's blog - indeed, you are lucky to get any kind of blog today at all - but having come this far, there was no way I was going to let the side down today - unless they were actually carrying me out of Yad's place on a stretcher! I have chosen a few favourite photos from my past few weeks in this beautiful country, some of which you may have seen before.
I very much like the last photo, and trust you are now feeling well enough again to smile as you are doing in it. It must be a great relief to have despatched your magnum opus - although I have yet to get beyond the start, I am looking forward to making the time to read and evaluate it all!
