School was open today, but only for staff, with the teachers delivering online sessions for the students - not an easy thing to do with coverage issues, power cuts etc. I had a very enjoyable performance management sessions with Chan, the Principal, where we went through his strengths and areas for development. It was genuinely fun for me to be doing something like this for a change.

Now that I know that this is my last week, there are lots of loose ends for me to tie up, which is also rather enjoyable for me. Even though this has been quite a lonely place for me to be - especially in the evenings - I will still look back on my time here with much affection - not least because of what I have been able to achieve here, even in the most difficult of circumstances, with some very lovely people.

Talking of lovely people, I had an afternoon excursion with the delightful Mr. Rizvi, where we went via the Castlereigh Dam to Mohina Ella waterfall, and then on to the bottom of Sri Prada. It was a beautiful journey, but we were not blessed with very good weather unfortunately. We got rained out at the bottom of Sri Prada, but we did manage to have a lovely cup of tea and Vijay, our tuk-tuk driver, joined us.

I had a quiet evening in (I make that sound like a rare occurrence, but every evening here is a quiet evening in!). However, at 21:00, I did join Peter Hopwood and Mr. Rizvi for their conversation session, which I have found to be a very entertaining experience. Trying to help someone develop their English, certainly focuses your mind on thinking about your own language, which causes much merriment!

  1. How beautiful - I mean the scenery, not you or Mr Rizvi!
