Today was another wonderful day, greatly enhanced by the fact that we have had a whole weekend of beautiful weather. I cannot tell you what a difference that makes after days and days of rain, but it sure is good for the soul! I did some ironing this morning after yesterday's washing, whilst listening to some music, and then headed off to Norwood to see how Dayaneethibabu was doing.
I walked the back way to the bus station, then caught the Hatton bus and got off at Norwood. I bought some food for lunch, then walked to Daya's, and I was very pleased to find him in good spirits, albeit that he is still feeling very tender after his operation, and he is still on 'soft' foods for the time being. His aunt is looking after him, and one of his 'sisters' (Sivayogam) was there with her daughter (Deeptisha).
More on the 'sisters' front! These are three daughters of his father's older brother, and they did all live together for quite some time when they were younger, so I can see why they feel more like sisters than cousins. Sadly, that brother died a couple of years after Daya's father, but the two widows remained very close, and when Daya's mother died, his aunt became like a second mother to him.
We had a lovely stroll down to the river, passing a disused Maternity Ward where Daya's younger brother Rasi was born on Daya's 6th birthday! They all used to play in the river when they were kids, and we met two lads bathing there, with other lads coming down to the river to bathe as we returned. I had the most wonderful afternoon and was quite sad to have to leave to come back to Maskeliya.
I attach the link below to the latest article I have just read about the situation here in Sri Lanka, which I think will be of interest to those people who like to follow such things!
