Day 56 in Sri Lanka, and my 48th and final day in Maskeliya - just one day short of 7 weeks! What a lovely last day it was too! Having not been able to say goodbye to the staff yesterday, I was very touched that many of them came in this morning to say goodbye to me. You will see from today's photographs that I had a lovely send off, with a beautiful gift that Chan had made personally.

The Eiffel Tower was an interesting choice for a gift from Sri Lanka, but I must tell you that the photographs don't do it justice - Chan is a very creative guy, and it is a beautiful piece of artwork - plus I do love Paris - and I have been to the top of the Eiffel Tower! As you will see, the teachers left a message on the back of it, and signed it for themselves and the few who could not make it this morning.

Bizarrely, as I returned to Ananda's there was a calf at the garage - just passing by you understand - not there for a servicing! I am constantly surprised in Sri Lanka! Not many days go by without something interesting and unusual happening. I think I see a lot more because I am not a tourist, so I am seeing more of the day-to-day, run-of-the-mill things, which for me are still absolutely fascinating!

I am leaving tomorrow morning, but my lift to Nuwara Eliya with Darshana is suddenly no longer available - and this did not come as any great surprise to me! I have arranged for Pradeep, my regular tuk-tuk driver here, to take me to Hatton, where I will be met by Reggie, who should be taking me to Yad's (although if you remember, last time I ended up at Sutharshan and Jesmin's place in Kandapola)!

  1. The Eiffel Tower must be symbolic of your achievement with the TLF project, Keith. It looks as though it will fill your rucksack!
