I went into school for a while as there were a few staff in, and I had things to catch up on. It was lovely to meet Mr. Renugopal, who appeared with his niece to say hello. He is one of the Teachers at the Tea Leaf Vision Palmerston School, which I hope to be able to visit when my time in Maskeliya is over, and I return to Nuwara Eliya to work with the Central Team, and the Nanuoya and Palmerston Schools.

I got quite a lot done, including being able to have a Video Messenger call with my wife Val, but the inevitable power cut arrived around 3p.m. and it ended up lasting for around 3 hours, so I decided to go for a walk to investigate the path behind the garage leading up through the hillside to the back of the town. I had yet to explore in that direction and was very pleased that I did, as the views were wonderful.

Maskeliya is already very elevated, so you don't have to climb too high before you see quite spectacular views all around you. At the top of the hill is a large catholic church, with an equally large mosque just a bit closer into town. The vegetation all around you is amazing and it is hard to capture just how colossal the banana plants and the trees are on photographs, but I gave it my best shot, as you will see.

I have had a couple of comments on my blog now - a few on here and a few via email (kjledbury@hotmail.com), so please feel free to add a comment yourself - or indeed to ask me any questions about my adventures so far, or about Sri Lankan life in general. If I don't know the answer myself, I can almost certainly find someone who will answer any specific questions you might have.
