Saturday 21st May 2022
I was up a bit later this morning, but it was Saturday! On the way to school, I saw Ananda and Chamod attending to the wheel of a truck, and I got a nice photograph of them. I also bought some vadai for Mr. Nixon and me at the little shop on the way to school, where there is the most delightful little girl who always waves at me as I go past, so I took a couple of photographs of her father and her.
I met Mr. Nixon on the path coming out of school as I was going in, so I gave him some of the vadai, and when I got to school only Mr. Saravanan was there, but Ms. Arunya arrived shortly after, so we worked for a bit - I carried on writing up my 'Government School Visits Report' - and then had a little break with some tea and the rest of the vadai, whilst chatting about their work with the KNH Project.
I had a Zoom Meeting chat with Peter Hopwood, which was great, as it kept me in touch with what is going on back home, and him in touch with what is going on here in Sri Lanka. I then had a lovely chat on Facebook Messenger with my elder son Joe and elder granddaughter Isabella, before popping into Maskeliya to pick up the two shirts that Babu the tailor has been making for me this week.
I had a lovely evening meal with my fellow guest, Artem from Ukraine, who I am getting to know quite well now, as we are both here for about a month, and when I got back to my room, I was able to have another three-way Zoom Meeting chat with my wife Val, who is now back with her mother in Bury, Manchester, and my son Ben, who was at his home in Edinburgh, capping off a very enjoyable day.
You must be feeling a lot more connected with home after all the internet meetings. I too would love to Zoom with you sometime, Keith. Allowing for power cuts and time difference, what is the best time of the day for you?
ReplyDeleteBy the way, what is 'vade' and how come Artem is in Sri Lanka?
