It was a tedious day today, and not because of the political situation, but rather because of the incessant monsoon rain, which has been pouring down pretty much non-stop for the past few days now. As well as being restricted by the curfew, I am also severely limited by the weather, as you cannot go very far without getting soaked to the skin. At night the rain sounds extremely loud on the corrugated iron roofs.
I have got on with yet more paperwork today, but I haven't got that much left to do, so I am adhering to Parkinson's Law currently, where the adage is that 'work expands to fill the time available'! I am concerned that if I get everything done too quickly, I will end up with nothing to do at all, although even working very slowly I will soon have completed all that I have been asked to do so far.
I chatted to a couple of people online today, including a Hong Kong Chinese lad called Kevin, who I have conversation classes with on AmazingTalker, an online language learning platform, where I do a bit of English teaching, and have also had a few Croatian lessons. Kevin is one of thousands of Hong Kong Chinese who, as mainland China takes more and more control, are emigrating to the UK.
Just photos from around the garage today, including one of the vice that Ananda uses, which was made in England and is sadly wearing out, so if anyone knows where I might get a new one like this in the UK, then please let me know, as Ananda says he cannot get a decent equivalent out here in Sri Lanka. It would be a rather heavy object to ship out here mind and would also take a few weeks to transport it!
