Having found out that the Mullaitivu Youth Reconciliation Centre is
miles away from Mullaitivu in a little rural village called Udaiyarkattu, we
took a bus there this morning. We received a warm welcome from Kevin, the former Tea Leaf Vision student
who has been appointed as a teacher at this Centre to work with the Sri Lanka
Unites students. We observed him teaching in extremely hot conditions and my
shirt was wringing wet by the end of the lesson! I chatted to Daya about his
observations of the lesson and I then fed back to Kevin, with Daya observing
me.
We had something to drink and then waited for the bus to take us back to
Mullaitivu, but it was so full when it arrived that we decided it was safer to
pay a bit extra for a tuk-tuk and we got back just after 17.00. We
quickly got changed and headed for the beach, where we saw more cows and spent a lovely hour
paddling along the shore until it got dark. We then went into Mullaitivu for
something to eat before spending the rest of the evening at the hotel.
Today's photos are fairly self-explanatory, although I particularly love the cows (not witnessed scenes like this since I bumped into a group of Friesians paddling on the beach in Bridport in June)!
