Thursday 10th October 2019
This was such an enjoyable day. I was running a Team Building Training
Day today with Rachelle. I led the morning session, where I got the teachers to
work in two teams, with a mix of Experienced Teachers and Trainee Teachers in
each team. The Trainee Teachers had to deliver a 25-minute lesson, using a set
of Science books I have brought from the UK for them. The Experienced Teachers’
role was to support the Trainee Teachers in the planning phase of the task and
then do a lesson observation of them as they were delivering the lesson.
In the afternoon, Rachelle led some
fun team-building activities, with my favourite one being the ‘Protect the Egg
Challenge’, where they were divided into teams and each team was given an egg
and some straw, some sheets of newspaper and some tape. They used these basic
materials to find some way of protecting the egg, which was dropped from a
height of about 10 feet. There were four teams and two of the teams’ eggs
broke, whilst the other two teams were successful in protecting their egg. They
decided to have a play-off, where two members of each team threw and caught
their eggs from an increasingly widening distance. Both teams did very well and
were throwing and catching their eggs from further and further apart, until
Roshani tried to catch the egg above her head and it smashed, leaving her covered
with raw egg! Of course, all the other teachers thought this was hilarious!
All the photographs today were taken from the Training Day.
