I went to visit Rachelle in hospital from 12:00 until 13:00, having bought some food and prepared it for her this morning. Although she now has a confirmed case of Dengue Fever, she said she was feeling much better, and she certainly looked a lot better, so much so that she is hopeful she will be allowed home tomorrow.
Reggie had brought me to the hospital, but he couldn't take me back, as he was taking a doctor to the airport (in his car, not his tuk-tuk, as it is at least a 5-hour journey from here). I am sure he told me that his brother would pick me up in his tuk-tuk at 13:00, as I asked him how I would know it was his brother and he told me his brother had a black tuk-tuk and looked very like him. Something must have got seriously lost in translation, because, eventually, at around 13:40, a friend of Reggie's, definitely not his brother (if he even has one!), turned up in a green tuk-tuk!
I had wanted to get to The Grand Hotel in time for the kick off of the England versus Argentina game at 13:45, but, despite the fact that the Rugby World Cup is being heavily promoted at the hotel, when I eventually got there, I was told they weren’t showing the rugby today because they were preparing for a Hindu Festival! I was very disappointed, of course, and I felt a bit annoyed to begin with, but I had to laugh about it in the end, as you just cannot take anything for granted in Sri Lanka!
There are just four photos today, two of some information that is posted on the wall outside Nuwara Eliya School and two of Nuwara Eliya centre, as I find the building so fascinating!
