Friday 11th October 2019
This was another extremely enjoyable day, although it was very tiring, as it involved travelling to
Maskeliya and back again. I left with Rachelle at 08:00 and we didn’t get home
again until gone 18:00. We went to Maskeliya to deliver the same Team Building
Training Day that we delivered at Nuwara Eliya yesterday.
The day followed the same format as
yesterday’s Training Day, but it felt quite different with this group of staff.
They worked in two teams, as the teachers did yesterday and one team delivered
a lesson on submarines, whilst the other team did theirs on ancient Egyptian
pyramids. The big difference today was how badly the teachers behaved when they
were watching the lessons and they had to be the students! I thought it was
going to descend into chaos at one point, but the Trainee Teachers managed to
hold it together with a bit of help from me. The feedback I got afterwards was extremely positive, as they all felt they had learned a lot from the experience.
These past two days will be etched into my memory for some
time to come, as I have enjoyed them both immensely. Both groups of staff have
been an absolute pleasure to work with and they inspire me to do my very best to
help them succeed. I am genuinely surprised how much I have grown to love Sri
Lanka and the people here in such a short space of time!
Much as I enjoyed yesterday and
today, it also left me feeling quite exhausted and I fell asleep for a while on
the journey back from Maskeliya to Nuwara Eliya. I have worked very hard
preparing for and delivering these two INSET Days and I have a real sense of
satisfaction that they both went so well, but I am also looking forward to the
weekend so that I can have a bit of a break.
All the photographs today were taken from this second Training Day.
